Gravely Mowers Guide

Purchasing the right lawn care equipment is a critical step towards ensuring the long-term health and beauty of your lawn. So it’s no surprise that when it comes to finding the right brand to invest in, details are very important in order to help you make an educated buying decision. The Gravely Lawn Mowers Guide is a website that was created with this objective in mind.
Here, you’ll find a plethora of additional information on the company’s background, each product and their various features, how-to guides as well as a troubleshooting and FAQ section.

Gravely have been around for over 100 years, with the company’s first patent filed in 1916. They’ve continued to develop and launch several lines of reliable mowers, with sales strong enough to carry the company through adverse periods during the Great Depression. While they started with driven plow tractors, Gravely offer all-gear mowers of several types today suitable for a variety of landscapes.

Choosing the mower that’s right for you

Depending on the size of your property and its topographical properties, it’s recommended that you evaluate all models before selecting a mower. Gravely offer three lines of mowers:

  1. Zero-turn –
Ideal for large sprawling estates and other commercial spaces, Gravely’s zero-turn mowers are perfectly adapted to long mowing sessions and regions riddled with trees, embankments and other such obstacles. The zero-turn capability enables users to maneuver around the tightest of spaces with a great degree of precision.
    Eg models: Pro-Turn 400, Pro-Turn 200, Pro-Turn 100, Pro-Turn
  2. Walk-behind –
Traditional walk-behind mowers are best suited for personal properties, backyards and smaller lawns. They offer the versatility of being hand driven and more portable, while also maintaining good fuel economy with a minimal carbon footprint.
Eg models: Pro-Walk Gear Drive, Pro-Walk Hydro
  3. Stand-on –
With the comfort of a self-propelling motor and the versatility and economy of a traditional push-mower, standing mowers offer the best of both worlds. They are best suited to properties that are larger than average personal spaces but fall short of reaching commercial proportions.
    Eg model: Pro-Stance

Common Problems

Since mowers are generally operated in outdoor conditions and are subjected to elements such as the sun and dust, they may occasionally run into minor issues. Most of these however are simple fixes that do not require a visit to the service centre.

  • Mower cranking but not starting:
Inspect the spark plug circuity and the spark gap – reset if required. If the plug has been damaged, replace it with a new one. Spark plugs must be changed every mowing season to ensure your engine stays responsive and starts quickly.
  • Engine backfiring when switching off:
Before you turn off the engine, ensure that you have moved the throttle control lever to the ‘Slow’ position. After this, allow the engine to continue idling for about 30 seconds before you proceed to turn off the unit.
  • Excessive vibrations coming from unit:
Inspect the blades for damage and replace if required – unbalanced or dented blades can cause vibrations if ignored. Ensure that you clean out loose clippings and other debris from the mower’s deck after each use to avoid loose particles entering the drive unit.

Conclusion

With over 100 years of experience in the industry and having forged a reputation for implementing consumer suggestions in their newer lines of mowers, Gravely mowers are a great choice for their affordability as well as long term durability. All mowers come backed with a minimum one year limited warranty.
